My Broken Epileptic Brain

Welcome to my blog. I started this blog because I have been living with Epilespy for many years and want to share my story. I hope to share my story of Epilespy and many other parts of my life.

York, Oxford and London trip

York, Oxford and London trip

So my most recent trip down south was to York for a couple of days, a quick trip to oxford and then to stay in London for a couple of nights.

York

I love York it is such a beautiful city and I had literally been counting down the days till I got to see one of my closest friends again in York.

As well as general chat and laughter about all things new since we felt like we hadn’t seen each other properly in too long my friend is also at the same uni i’m going to next year and I stayed with her in her uni accommodation and heard all about uni life in York and like the important stuff such as the best bars and hangover food available!

My visit involved a lot chatting and laughter but also went to some lovely places for drinks and food.

After dinner at a classic wagamama’s (everyone loves a wagamama’s) we found this wee bar called Fossgate tap.

Was such a lovely bar and gave us a great chance to fill each other in on what we had been up too. Honestly we all have those friends that after you haven’t seen them for a month or two you literally just can’t stop chatting coz you feel like you have so much to catch up on!

Would totally recommend Fossgate tap like was such a cute place and we both wanted a drink but also space to sit and chat and Fossgate was perfect for that.

The next morning we left my friends uni accommodation (just missing a fire alarm that apparently went off in the building hehe) and went for brunch.

Can’t say I’m normally a huge breakfast person but if nothing else I’m an absolute coffee addict and was ready for caffeine!

But we did manage to find one of the nicest brunch places for some breakfast that was called Partisan.

My friend went for a classic scrambled eggs on toast that looked amazing and I went for french toast and was defo not hungry after that!

And I mean the empty coffee cup ovs shows I loved the coffee too.

Oxford

Once I got to London I hopped onto another train and went straight to oxford to visit another one of my closest friends.

I had never been to oxford before but after a tasty lunch and some tree hugging I had a good experience there thanks to my friend!

The famous oxford uni building were just exactly as I had imagined and I guess was amazing to see a place I know I will never end up at haha.

The park we went to was so lovely and my friends love for trees meant we couldn't visit the park without a bit of tree hugging. As she would say herself ‘you get so much energy from trees there amazing!’.

London

After being in York and oxford with some amazing friends I then joined my mum in London for a couple of days.

We stayed in saco fitzrovia which was an apartment kind of building and gave us somewhere to stay with plenty of space including a kitchen/living room, 2 bedrooms and bathroom.

We had never stayed here before but it defo made sense location wise as it was close to where the musical we saw was and the train station for oxford.

I love visiting London. there is always so much happening and so much to see I honestly don’t think you could really ever become board visiting London (or at least I know I never could given how many shops there are to visit!)

I of course first have to recommend the place that we practically always visit at some point for a brunch- The Wolseley .

The Wolseley is always a must for us when we visit London coz if nothing else these pancakes are to die for! I would 100% recommend like it like I’m not much of a breakfast lover but I always love have breakfast at The Wolseley.

After this we then went to the photography exhibition at the natural history museum. The photo above is one of the winners to the competition and of course is very impressive to actually capture something like that on camera!

Last but not least I absolutely have to recommend the musical we saw - Come From Away.

The musical was based on how when 9/11 happened like all the other planes in the air had to land asap and many of them ended up having to land in Gander, a small town in Canada. When staying in Gander waiting for a chance to get back on the plane a woman from america and a guy from England met and ended up falling in love.

This was actually all based on a true story of what happened in Gander and for this couple. The music was absolutely brilliant and some of the characters they had were just hilarious and we loved it.

This was just a short wee visit I had down south but was great visiting some of my closest friends and seeing some amazing places in London.
